Agilent 6890 Plus GC (FID) and 5973
MSD with 208 V service (5973 GC-MSD)
Franek Technologies LPS Catalog Number
FT1-5973CS2-AG – extended run time
Instrument Description: The Agilent 5973 GC-MSD is
highly sensitive benchtop mass spectrometer
combining the Agilent 6890 Plus Fast Oven, Gerstel
Autosampler, ODP Sniff Port, and Agilent 5973 with
an inert Mass Selective Detector for analysis of
active compounds such as pesticides, drugs of
abuse and chemical warfare agents.
While pesticides improve crop yields and help
alleviate food shortages, many of the chemicals
used have deleterious effects on health.
To ensure safe foods, in excess of 700
pesticides are regulated worldwide.
Many laboratories qualify samples using a
GC and a pesticide-screening program identifying
each pesticide, or other organic contaminant,
by its retention time.
Following screening, samples containing
pesticides that exceed regulated levels are
further analyzed for confirmation on a GC equipped
with a Mass Selective Detector (MSD).
Symrise utilizes these instruments to
screen for contaminants in its Flavor Analysis
Laboratory.
Application: Active compound screening such as
pesticides, contaminants, drugs of abuse and
chemical warfare agents.

Agilent 6890N Network GC System - Fast Oven Option
Franek Technologies LPS Catalog Number
FT1-6890GCF-AG – extended run time
Instrument Description: The
Agilent 6890N Network GC Systems with the Fast
Oven Option and software make it possible to
analyze samples with high levels of matrix
contamination.
Tools
such as mass spectral deconvolution, reliable and
inert effluent splitters, and column backflushing
capabilities can be combined to produce large
timesavings for a complete analysis.
By accelerating the chromatographic run,
post-run bakeout, and data interpretation steps,
analysis times can be shortened by at least
three-fold versus conventional methods.
These techniques are especially useful in
analyses with high levels of matrix background
clutter, such as the inspection of the food supply
for contaminants.
In addition to monitoring for pesticide
residues and trace element contamination, the
threat of terrorism has recently raised concerns
over deliberate contamination of food with other
toxic materials.
The Agilent 6890N with the Fast Oven option
is a GC/MS system for the rapid screening of
foodstuffs for chemical contaminants with a
special emphasis on pesticides, organophosphorus,
and organosulfur compounds.
Symrise utilizes this instrument to screen
for contaminants in its Flavor Analysis
Laboratory.
Application: Active compound screening such as
pesticides, contaminants, drugs of abuse and
chemical warfare agents
